The first ever match was played today between Australia and Super Babes, opening the Cricket Mania game. The exhibition was played for charity, and helped the players warm up. The match showed what was to come in the future, with a brillaint thrilling opening match.

Super Babes captain won toss and elected to bat, on wicket that could be described as a ' A Batsman Paradise'. The flat wicket, ensured a wonderful match. Opening, to face the first ball of the match was Kiera Knightely, who played wonderfully hitting six fours, before falling to the great spinner Shane Warne, by a superb catch by Mark Waugh at first slip.

Super Babes scored steadily, but none of the players managed to score more than 50, apart from Knightely. Tight bowling from Shane Warne, ensured the total did not exceed 300, with good support from Greg Chappell. Warne ended with figure 2 for 30 of ten overs, Mark Waugh 2 for 28 of 4 overs were the main wicket-takers for Australia.

Super Babes scored 268 with the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, a reasonable total. Jennifer Love Hewitt opened the bowling and quickly got an important early wicket. Mark Waugh fell for 7 bowled by J.Hewitt and caught behind by Jessica Alba. At 3 for 75, Australia looked like they were in bit of trouble, although the run rate was well above, Super Babes looked like they going to bowl them out.

Ricky Ponting entered the crease and along with Greg Chappell set about building an important partnership. R.Ponting scored 60 whilst Greg Chappell whacked 96 of just 74 balls, ensuring Australia's victory. Australia reached target comfortably, winning by 3 wickets and 6.2 overs to spare. Man of the Match was clearly awarded to Greg Chappell for his innings of 96 and economical bowling.

Jennifer Anniston captain of Super Babes, said that the match was important preparation for future series. Anniston wasnt concerned about the loss, claiming it was the first match and girls need to get into 'mood' of playing cricket, after a long break. Meanwhile there is worry in the Super Babes, Natalie Portman had to leave the field after slippin on the cricket ball. Anniston commented " There is nothing to worry about, she should be fine."
